CCB Subsea has been awarded a contract from Equinor for modification and preparation of Cap-X structures for drilling operations. The work will be carried out in Kirkenes in cooperation with the Kimek shipyard.

Continuation of cooperation
The award represents a continuation of the cooperation with Kimek established in the autumn of 2017 in connection with Cap-X delivery projects to Equinor in 2019 and 2020. The contract, which includes engineering, procurement and remodeling, will start with immediate effect and the project will extend well into 2024.

– We are very pleased with this award and have already started the engineering and procurement work. Start-up in Kirkenes will take place at the beginning of September, says Cecilie Sælen, CEO of CCB Subsea..

Competitive deliveries through collaboration
– All tribute to Equinor and CCB Subsea for recognizing the local deliveries in the previous project, and at the same time confirming our competitiveness nationally. Kirkenes consolidates its position as a supplier of services to the petroleum industry, says Greger Mannsverk, CEO of Kimek.

– It is gratifying that the industry is able to secure activity in the north for a long-term perspective. And this award is particularly important now to maintain activity and delivery capacity locally in a difficult time with sanctions, says Mannsverk..

Local value creation and competence development
The contract ensures good activity for Kimek well into 2024 and facilitates other activities and projects, including in connection with preparation and mobilisation for offshore operations.

– This is fully in line with the CCB Group’s strategy to offer subsea and drilling services locally at all bases along the Norwegian coast, and this contributes to local competence enhancement and strengthens the basis for long-term ripple effects in the north, concludes Sælen.

A meeting with a presentation of the cooperation will be held in early September in Kirkenes.
