The THOR is designed for open-water retrieval of Tubing Hangers; it is run on wire, lands on the HXT re-entry hub and functions are operated by a hotstab from the ROV. It can also be used as the PITCH to pull the Internal Tree Cap and in addition install the Internal Tree Cap. The THOR is configurable to interface to different HXT systems by quick and easy change-out of the latch body on deck. With it’s 3000kg, it is light weight and easy to handle on deck and with wire from a vessel or rig.
THOR
It has the following benefits:
- Pulls TH and ITC with 125 tons force
- Protects seal surfaces during the landing, pulling and recovery operation
- Operated by the ROV
- Run overboard with a subsea crane or winch, no overpull from wire
May be configurable to different HXT systems, hence perfect for open-water P&A on fields with different HXT systems installed.

Sharing and circular economy in Subsea
– Higher utilization of existing tooling and improve operational efficiency
– Reuse permanently installed equipment and capital spares
– Use tooling across operators/ licenses
– Surplus equipment transferred across operators
